What are Stainless Steel ERW?

ERW is referred as “electro-reinforced welding.” Manufacturing techniques like ERW are used to fabricate metal. It is a kind of welding that forms a stronger bond than standard welding. Nickel electroplating strengthens and increases corrosion resistance of the metal in the ERW process.

A Stainless Steel 409 ERW Pipes is made by adding an alloy to raw steel to use in construction. Compared with plain steel, stainless steel alloy provides substantially greater corrosion resistance than conventional steel, so it can be used when conventional steel rusts easily.

What Sets Seamless Stainless Steel Pipes Apart from ERW Stainless Steel Pipes?

Pipes are manufactured using Electric Resistance Welding (ERW), which involves rolling the metal and longitudinally welding it. Since seamless pipes are made by extruding metal to the appropriate length, they do not have any joints in their cross-section throughout their length like ERW pipes.

A seamless pipe is formed from solid billets of metal that do not require welding or joints. Pipes with ODs between 1/8 and 26 inches are finished according to dimensions and wall thicknesses. Hydrocarbon industry and refineries, oil and gas exploration and drilling, bearings, boilers, cars, and the hydrocarbon industry are all places where high-pressure applications are found.

The ERW process can produce pipes up to 24″ in diameter, be longitudinally welded, and be manufactured from strips or coils. Stainless steel ERW 409 pipes are cold formed from steel ribbons fused together by an electric charge. The ribbon is created by cold forming the steel. The majority of its applications are low and medium pressure, such as transferring liquids such as water and oil.

ERW steel pipe comes in lengths ranging from approximately 2 3/8 inches to nearly 100 feet, and the common diameters range from 2 3/8 inches to 24 inches. Surface finishes are offered in bare and coated forms, and customer processing can be done on-site.

What technologies are employed in the production of ERW and Seamless Pipes?

ERW and seamless pipes can be produced using the world-famous “CPE” technology based on out diameters up to 7 inches in diameter. The “Plug Mill” technology is used for larger diameters. In terms of higher dia., this is the most reliable technology. Approximately 7 inches to 14 inches of seamless pipes and tubes are produced in this segment. For ERW pipes and tubes up to 21 inches in outside diameter, high frequency induction welding is used.
